Remix culture (mashups) is everywhere in today's society. It's seen in music, films, sculptures, paintings, etc. It is the art form of mixing, rearranging and rethinking already existing pieces and mashing them together to make something new and unique.  As other might think this as stealing art works from the the original artist, it really isn't. In the documentary Objectified by Gary Hustwits, A designer from Tokyo, Naoto Fukasawa, spoke about how, "by simply writing and only about what is there, the audience is drawn into the poet's wold. Their imagination is stimulated, and a silent connection is established," and that, "design needs to be plugged to natural human behaviour." I interpreted this statement to how simplicity speaks in volumes and what pulls you in to a design may not be how colourful or fancy it looks, but by how familiar and easy it seems. Like Fukasawa, I too believe that good and meaningful designs don't have to be extravagant and dynamic, the beauty lies in the simple things.
